IRATA Rope Access Technician (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

Training  programme 

IRATA Rope Access Technician (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

Choose the level corresponding to your experience (see prerequisites) IRATA certification is valid for 3 years and must be renewed with a refresher course to maintain your skills and your right to practice.

Level 1
Beginner rope access technician

Regulations and safety for working at height
Knowledge of equipment and tying basic knots
Progression techniques (ascents, descents, movements)
Setting up anchors and checks
Lowering simple loads
Basic rescue exercises (self-rescue, assisting a teammate)

Level 2
Experienced rope access technician

Review of Level 1 fundamentals
Advanced progression and rescue techniques
Setting up and managing complex rope systems
Lifting and handling heavy loads on ropes
Organizing and securing work stations at height
Supervising a Level 1 pair and managing team rescues

Level 3
Rope access supervisor

Review and mastery of N1 and N2 techniques
Design and supervision of complex access systems
Management and supervision of rope teams (responsibilities, procedures)
Implementation of complex rescue and first aid procedures (first responder)
Site organisation (management, preparation, safety)
Validation of skills in real-life situations and preparation for the role of supervisor

Practical information about the training course

IRATA Rope Access Technician (Levels 1, 2 and 3)

Training duration : 6 days (42h) per level
Validity : 3 years (mandatory 3 to 5-day refresher course) in France and abroad
PPE : Supplied by HTC Techniques Verticales (1 complete rope access PPE kit / trainee + collective equipment)
Training documents : Technical training manual + Guide to good rope access technician practice (ICOP) + IRATA safety standards
Training centres : Marseille Peypin, Nantes Chateaubriant, Lille Sin le Noble
Assessment and Accreditation : The certification of IRATA rope access technicians is organized and assessed according to the ISO 17024 standard.
Prerequisites : Ability to read and write / good physical and mental health. A minimum of 1,000 hours of rope access experience and an up-to-date logbook* (Level 2 and Level 3 only). SST or First Aid certification (valid only for Level 3). An active IRATA TECHCONNECT profile at the start of training.
Languages : Our IRATA training modules are bilingual in French and English.
Upper level eligibility : 12 months and 1 day + 1000h experience
Training document : Professional rope access technician's card + diploma + Log Book (log of hours of experience on ropes)
Access deadline and terms : Immediate registration possible subject to availability and validation of the quote and/or training agreement (contract)
